| An hour down the Otter - 26/07 Popped down the Otter again last night on the spur of the moment. Didn't arrive until 20:45 so only really had about an hour of daylight left. Tatics were again the Bubble float, size 10 carp hook and floated bread. I set about getting a bait in the water as quickly as I could, but found that the first spot I'd found down stream had a fairly quick flow and worse, a fair ripple on the water from the wind blowing down the river. I gave it a couple of casts, but really couldn't see the bread with the ripple on the water and found the float reached the end of my swim in no time at all due to the flow, so I made the decision to yomp a fair way up stream to see what was about. To be honest, there wasn't much, certainly not as many Mullet as we've seen of late, but I was here now and the light was fading, so I gave it a go. Nothing happened for the next 20 mins, and with the light really starting to go now I made a final decion to move and bingo, first cast in the new spot and I was in..... Only not to the Mullet I was hoping for but this..... ![]() Brownie bycatch! Not what I was after, but points and it certainly takes the pressure off my single fly fishing trip to the Brownie reservoir later in the year! __________________ Right then, checklist: Rods. Check. | Re: An hour down the Otter - 26/07 That is a lovely marked brownie. I've never seen a mullet on the bank, but once saw 100's in poool harbour leaving the remains of a sunken rowing boat. __________________ Ignore the margins at your peril |
