| Re: Chesil?? I did decide to go to cogden in the end and all in all it wasn't a bad nights fishing. We got down there about 7pm and high tide was about 9:30pm roughly, the fishing was pretty slow to start with and for a few hours it got quite choppy. It wasn't really until the ebb it started to fish. Between me and my mate we ended up catching a few pouting, 1 poor cod, 1 very very small whiting, loads of dogfish, 3 tub gurnards and 1 smalled eyed ray just short of 4lb. we fished right through until about noon the next day. One fish that was in abundance was mackeral, especially around dusk. it was almost impossible not to catch them. even before the sinker could hit the bottom with fresh worm baits, the mackeral were on it! One thing i would advise if anyone's going down there is to use thick hook snoods as the spider crabs were out in force and a few hooks went astray. bait wise; rag, lug, squid and sandeel all seemed to work. mackeral, peeler and bluey was left pretty much untouched. |
