Babbacombe report

I had some free time this afternoon so I headed down to Oddicombe first but the waves were pretty big so choose to fish Babbacombe instead.

I don't know why I keep going there because the people who fish there are so selfish and rude

I saw the people there were catching whiting and doggies so I used large hooks and big baits from the off to try and stop an evening of a billion whiting and doggies. I ended up catching a whiting and doggy aaarrrgghhhh

There were 3 peeps fishing the end and it was pretty cramped. A guy comes along and with no "Mind if I fish here?" politeness just started setting up his 2 rods right in the middle of the two on the left hand side. The original guy at the left end could no longer fish where he was fishing so gave up and left just as Mr inpolite's friend comes along. The two remaining nice peeps had enough and started packing up. I wanted their spot because I was fishing into rocks. I started moving my gear up and the first muppet put his rod right on the end where I was about to fish. Not to be outdone by him I just said "Mind if I squeeze in" and put my rod just to the right of his.

After a bit he gave up fishing an arms length from me and moved back over. They seemed quite put off because there they were with 4 rods out and little old me wanted to put one out.

Anyway, I cast out dead ahead and for the next 2 hours the one next to me cast both his lines over mine every single time. No just a bit over mine I mean I was casting towards 1oclock and he cast at 3oclock.It took a lot to remain calm tonight!

No wonder I like the peace and quiet of Oddicombe so much.

Re: Babbacombe report

People are so dam rude sometimes problem is the red mist comes in and I kindly remind them not to be w909ers . Its a shame as 99.999% of the guys on the beach are such great people and I enjoy having a chat with them

But the best way is smile and move a little

I thought you would not be out this weekend mate with whats going on as its a shame as down your way fishing

Re: Babbacombe report

Shame about all that Simon - spoilt a nice day for you.
I'm afraid their behaviour typifies some peoples disrespect for their surroundings and other people.
Sounds like Babbacombe is more tranquil. Or you can come and fish with ladies and gentlemen - you're welcome 'fluff chucking' in Wales

B****ks to keeping calm. Next time call me mate and I will be down with my line cutters. Rude and ignorant s**ts.

Re: Babbacombe report

I fished down Berry Head one day in the summer, the sun was red hot so i wore shorts and t-shirt. As I took my rod out of the bag I notied this big black cloud, just got the first bait in the water and the heavens opened, the wind got up and I was freezing. The time I got back home and dried off the sun was out and it was boiling again.

Bloody typical.
