 Lymington recce 19-07-10 NO FISH were hurt in the making of this story Went for a drive with the family today into the New Forest with the plan to come out the other end somewhere near the coast ..Ended up in Lymington - a place that on my last visit fishing with a friend i was sat in his car outside the bank on a saturday market day when the car burst into flames !  This was some ten or more years ago but thoughts of Mullet and other harbour species had me wondering about its fishing potential.. I swear i saw a sea trout jump clear of the water twice in this lagoon bit before the town ..not sure what else woulda jumpet 2 feet clear of the water.twice !! Saw this when we went for chips.... This is where Lee spends most of his life lol -  Saw one guy with all the mullet gear down in the marina but on walking the whole lenght of the front only saw millions of small fry and the odd crab darting past..Weather was brill - i just felt naked without any fishing kit !  I've never targetted Mullet but wonder about the potentail of this place and also how many bass are about  ..every single pontoon had 'no crabbing - no fishing' but guess there were plenty spots where you could get in out of peoples way..I know a recce to new fishing grounds was badly disguised as a family day out but they really enjoyed it and by 7 pm we had left and headed back into the New Forest en route home ( kinda  ) The place above is called Bolderwood and has a veiwing platform where you can see herds of Deer being fed plus a glorious picnic area - one i will be returning too.. Anyway i decided to stick the kettle on ( after borrowing a light from another family picnicking - this not smoking anymore catches me every time !) Well mug pasta for them and a cup of tea for me i thought..aww crap - i didnt bring milk..."try some of Williams in it" was the reply from across the table..Mmmm i though S.M.A follow on milk in my tea  NOT !It was deffo better than i thought and kept me going on the journey home .. No fishing , but i think its great fun to go to places and check out the area - tackle shops...little jetties...piers and harbours all are possible gold mines - it means a day out that we can all enjoy ( even if some of us have ulterior motives )  __________________ Shore Species 2012: Dab-Flounder-Herring-L.S.Dogfish-Pouting-Shore Rockling-5 Bearded Rockling-Small Eyed Ray-Turbot-Whiting     |
