Well as planned , i headed back down the docks to fish the Quay - the roads were virtually empty ( probably due to everyone crying in their beer at various hostelries )Arrived just after 10 to find another half a dozen old boys fishing the far end and doing their best to avoid the horizontal rain ! My first cast resulted in a small whiting to worm followed by a pout on the next cast ..Then my sandeel was devoured by my fist ever Quay Doggie - and a monster it was too !! Bluey and sandeels failed to produce another bite but the worm was getting steady hits on both the rag and lug . A few steady raps on the rod tip and thoughts of another sole sprung to mind - reeling in i could feel the weight but to my mixed delight and horror i pulled in this Eel which i reckon was well over a pound in weight and almost 2 foot in length ! ![]() another half dozen pout followed , then another whiting before finishing off with my second silver eel .. Two reasonable smoothies were caught off the end by the old boys but it seems i was doing the species hunt on my own ! i even caught a rook at one point which couldnt take off from the water and sadly gave up its impersonation of a duck to meet its watery end ![]() Usually when you want a bus , you don't see one then two come along at once... Well how about FOUR cruise liners all in the space of 30 minutes ! The Arcadia,Ventura,Independence of the Seas plus a fourth that was too far to get a name of ..An amazing spectacle at 4.30 in the morning and a perfect end to another chilled session on the Quay ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Steve __________________ Shore Species 2012: Dab-Flounder-Herring-L.S.Dogfish-Pouting-Shore Rockling-5 Bearded Rockling-Small Eyed Ray-Turbot-Whiting

Re: Town Quay 18th June 2010 only saw one small bass caught by the guy with the smutts - strange as you normally see atleast a few schoolies ! was quieter than i thought it would be but that could have been down to the police presence and crappy weather .. fish baits never got a sniff mate so unless its for cuttles i wouldnt bother !! Have a good session lads ![]() __________________ Shore Species 2012: Dab-Flounder-Herring-L.S.Dogfish-Pouting-Shore Rockling-5 Bearded Rockling-Small Eyed Ray-Turbot-Whiting

Re: Town Quay 18th June 2010 being an anorak lol, i have since found out that the other liner is the Grand Princess and is now on its way to Cadiz , the Ventura on its way to Lisbon, The Arcadia to Zeebrugge and that the Independence is the largest cruise liner in the world ( now on its way to Gibralter ) !! i'd happily be on any one of them ![]() __________________ Shore Species 2012: Dab-Flounder-Herring-L.S.Dogfish-Pouting-Shore Rockling-5 Bearded Rockling-Small Eyed Ray-Turbot-Whiting
