4 trips in one and a new pb

went bit mad this weekend as i missed out on a france ling trip cos my passport was out of date....doh >

so i finished work on1/2 day on friday and armed with squid and some crabs i head out , but i soon saw it was going to be rough in the solent and the wafi's were out in force for some j-boat cup. so southampton water it was and greenland was the spot. well not quite electric but steady flow of mackerel, couple of small pollock, couple of smuts to 5lb and a beermat sized thornback. at high water i head back for a pint.

saterday i was going to crew for eric on the cod but ended up working in the morning. so not be be beaten i head out in my boat and had a play with some lures. in a couple of hours i had about 20 school bass then back to the marina for a mullet, but they did not want to play for some reson.

sunday we head for st cats on manta, but could we find a mackerel.......could we hell. and soon we were at st cats. so we put the pick in and a left a set of feathers over side waiting. while we waited we use squid and had a few conger. then bingo *****mackerel*****
on the hook it went and bang i was in , first of the day been about 20lb. then no sooner had i hit the bottom i had another , this time a touch bigger at 25 lb ish. the other 2 on the boat had 1 each , both around the 15-20lb mark.
then weather came in as thay said it would and the anchor bounced out. so it was bollox to that and we haed in for some shelter , but the was none to be found, so we ended up in whitecliff but anchor still would not hold and soon got pissed off, so we head home with tail between legs.

monday arvo i finished work early and meet eric on wight reble and some of the lads from the local tackle shop for some hounds.
we head to sowley boom and it did not take long for the smuts to come thick and fast. and me with my silly spinning rod i had quite some fun with the 6 hounds i had and i got a new pb for me at 18 1/2lb.

this is the beats that took 20 minutes of skipper and the lads taking the piss out of me

shame i could not get better piccy but it nutted me in the bollox twice trying....lol
so i was well chuffed to say the least. soon as the ide started to ebb the weed came and we head home.

so manged to make the most of what started a bad week, hense to say the passport going to be sorted very soon. but the pb hound makes up for it
