last night i was really at a loss as to wether to hit the beach or a pond( either way it was frozen baits only) so i tossed a coin, and beach it was, grabbing a packet of squid, 2 good packets of sandeel and 2 previously defrosted sandeel, charmouth was the venue
( had considered north coast but reports from the mornings westward trophy comp didnt sound good + i was flying solo again)

headed off to the landslip with a sexy looking surf sunning, so it was 1 out at range with 2/0 pennel for a ray

and 1 whole squid 4/0 for a bass in close

well it was slow, infact slow would even have been faster than last eve, but i did notice a small rattle on the rod, then 2 mins later another rattle then again soon after so my need overtook my knowledge and i struck and there was a weight
which i thought was weed, untill just into the surf the weed was flapping , hoorah a ray at BL@@DY last, then the weed jammed the line in the tip ring and like a muppet i dropped the tip too clear rather than walk backwards, which meant slackline and an escape for my quarray

well i fished on till 11.30 for 1 micro pout , then so peed off i left for the slog home

highlight of the trip was a cracking sunset


what do i have to do to find a ray this year

seriously tho , im after a Ray too and in your predicament i'd probably have swam after it !
