| Chale IOW 31/5/2010 Well myself and a couple of mates decided to take the treck down to Chale to try and catch something on the last day of the month. I have never fished the area so on arrival found the access a little different to the normal lakes i fish.  We got the rods out about 7.45pm baited with sand eel and squid, and settled in to wait for darkness and hopefully a few fish. There was no action until around 9.45pm when Ian had, 2 pout on his 1 up 1 down rig. Next to weigh in was myself with 1 pout and then I had my first doggie.  While i was releasing the doggie i noticed my second rod tip hitting quite hard so picked up reeled and swept the rod to connect with what i new was a better fish. The fish stayed close to the bottom and i guessed it was a Ray. Sliding it in with the waves i had caught my first Ray. A nice hook hold in the corner of the mouth was easy to remove and on the scales it went 7lb exactly.  Mike then had a pout and i had another doggie followed by a pout, before mike finished off the session for us with 2 more pout. A much enjoyable evening for all especially me and i have managed to bank 3 more species for this year of which 2 are completely new species for me. Like mike said you wont catch one of them in a pond Grin Grin Grin     |
