Wink Hillhead - one for Spahill !

More of a story than a fishing report !

After digging some fresh rag and collecting a few crabs i headed for Hillhead arriving at about 8pm - in the car par were 2 cars full of Malaysian folk down from Oxford and bagging up on cockles..well , as we were chatting i was stood eating a bag of chips when one of the guys i was talking to ushered me over to the back of his car , and lay out was about ten trays of hot and really nice smelling Malaysian food, rice, chicken portions - you name it !
Well, needless to say the chips went for a burton straight into the briney and the next fifteen minutes were spent scoffing some really tasty if unexpected nosh !!

After taking a drive up and down the front and chatting to a guy who lived in the flats on the front ( the jammy git ) i headed up for the wall to find one guy fishing from the back of his wagon and a couple of nippers - who incidently NEVER stopped yapping the whole time ( and caught a tiny butterfly thornie - had NO idea what it was , apparently it was a bit like the the flatfish his mate had caught last time but looked really different )

first fish for me was a small yet welcomed Bass on rag

Which was then followed by me landing a starry smut of 10 lb 14 oz !
Sadly it was for the guy fishing to my left who thanked me for my netting skills and asked me to take a pic ( it will be on the forums im assured ) !

He then left around 3a.m as he had work in the morning and that left me on my own to fish until - well, untill i got bored

Then i had intervention from God / a stroke of amazing luck / something you just couldn't make up and one name came to mind straight away !
spahill deery me i thought to myself

Straight past the car and within 6 feet this little ball of fluff came - gingerley walking down the road before heading i think into
Titchfield nature reserve !

One more small Bass ensued as the sun came out to show a sea flatter than a pancake and the nature reserve ( even heard another cuckoo ) was in all its glory behind me and after watching a few big Mullet cruise along the front ( yes im aware thats a swan ) i decided to get in the car and head home around 7.30

Not the fishiest of nights but one filled with great memories that are helping to keep the severe backache from digging at bay

Steve
