| solent 22/5/10 engine all sorted, it was the carbs playing up. yesterday i had a shot out in to the solent in search of some big old smoothies. and by 7.30 i was rocked up at hill head in my normal spot. but what was strange was the banks/ gully i normaly find were gone. flat as a pancake.????? so was the sea  still i gave it a go. and had 6 mackerel almost instantly, then the dogs turnt up. then my light rod with the plaicing gear on it bent double and in came my target and smoothie. not quite the size i wanted but a start @4lb. soon the wafi's turnt up and the wind kicked up which was the final straw. i shot over to stanswood bay. fishing was slow to start with then i had two rods go at once . so a foot on 1 to stop it goning over and bringing the other in i had a male thornie of 6-7lb and on the other i had its twin sister.  the male is dinner 2nite and the female went back. then it was steady with small 2-3lb rays and doggers b4 the weed got to much and i head in to ashlet for a go at the bass and a clean down. managed 6 small bass to 2lb , nice day and first time iv ever had 6 thornbacks in such a short spell. and great to see them hopfully coming back in numbers. all the ray fell to squid and did not even touch the mackerle. __________________ http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...xt80382370.gif     |

| Re: solent 22/5/10 i recon they like the squid cos the is a far bit of cuttle around at the moment. i was anchored well out of casting range, so you better get ya trunks on...lol and yes i recon the oyster dredgers have flattened the banks, thay hammered hill head, lee and stokes this year. __________________ http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...xt80382370.gif |
