River Itchen 21/5/10

Had another session in the sunshine today on a mark on the Itchen that Dave (chopperblue) has always said produces the flounders. Met up with Dave in Al's tackle and bait and picked up some top class ragworm. We got to the mark and the flood was still young so we collected a few peelers. Started fishing and things were very slow and the crabs were very hungry, stripping baits. Only one little rattle to Dave by the time high water arrived. Things soon kicked off during the movement between the two high-waters. Dave had a decent bite, called it as a flounder and was proved right.

As he returned his fish i had a great bite on my spinning rod and followed suit with an almost identical flattie of my own, my first in ages!

Dave ad also been on a flounder drought until today and he quickly made it 2-1 with this fish:

We had a few more bites between us, possibly schoolies that we couldn't connect with. I had a good bite on my last cast and another flounder on, I dropped it right at the edge though! Turned out to be a good few hours fishing though and good to see some flounder about. All fish were returned and caught at close range on running ledgers with light weights.
