| abbotsbury 6/5/2010 thursday found myself and hartley heading for the chesil with fine weather and light northerly winds which gave flat calm conditions & no rain. starting at about 19.30 and about low water on this very small neap tide. the usual £ on the first fish was ventured and the dilema over which rig to select was solved as while threading my leader throught the rod rings i noted a neibouring angler capture a pair of mackerel on feathers, so i clipped on a set and had one on the beach b4 hartley had baited his hooks.  but that was the only one we could catch , just the sporadic 1 or 2 more were caught along the beach by the few anglers. baitwise, we were well equipped with 2lb of squid 5 mackerel a few frozen black, and at dusk we were kindly given a bit of ragworm. all was fairly quiet till dusk with just the odd fish breaking surface along the shore line. the kennel opened on dusk with good ole lsd's hammering all baits bar the lug. hartley managed to get 2 + missed a huge bite that looked like it may have been a bass. i quit counting after catching 1/2 dozen, they seem to be a smaller stamp of fish this year. tried hard to find something different but you just couldn't avoid the dogfish. there follows a token piccy of the 2010 season dogfish and mackerel capture for the specie hunt. nothing special,  __________________ beer so many venues, so little time.     |
