| Felpham Tonight! Hello All First time I have posted since TSF days! I am off to Felpham tonight for the first time ever. I actually live in Felpham - just never fished it as I usually travel just down the road to Selsey East Beach instead. I was out jogging a couple of months back at low tide and there are some great rough looking patches about 50-60 yards out, which look like they would have some fish moving over them. Planning to get down there at about 8:00 and fish up and over high tide. ANyone ever fished there? Anyone got any reports of fish in the Bognor area? My plan is to fish close in with a side of mackerel and hope there are some decent bass around! If that fails then I'll fish hermit crabs over the rougher ground in the hope of some rays. Thoughts appreciated!! |

| Re: Felpham Tonight! Hello All Was not the greatest session ever but I didn't blank - 1 doggie and 1 rockling!! Better than nothing and at least I know now that the beach I can walk to produces fish! I walked down there at low tide (about 5:30pm) to have a look. To the left of yacht club there is a lot of rocks and rockpools interspersed with sandy gullies etc. Looked really 'fishy', if a little snaggy, with plenty of mussel beds. (I am pretty sure this would be a good place to try for smoothhounds in the next month or two - will not be as crowded as Selsey and it's right on my doorstep. So, went back to get ready and came back at 8.pm and fished til 1.00am - which was up to high tide and about an hour and half over. Strangely, there was absolutely nothing doing - not even a tremor - until the promenade lights switched off at midnight - then the bites started to come (although it does coincide with high tide, which might be the real reason). I fished a two hook flapper type rig with a combo of bluey and squid. I am thinking that for my next session, I might walk further down to where the private beach frontage starts as there are no lights and the same sort of rocky patches. I would have stayed longer as I am pretty sure I could have had a few more fish but I was playing golf today so needed my sleep! I am planning to go again one night this week so will let you know if anything is happening. Cheers P.C. |
