myself, Hartley our wives & hoard of kids set forth this morning for weymouth with both mpv's loaded to the gunnells
from midday till about 15.30 we did the play sand castles on the beach with the kids thing , while noteing local lugworm & clam populations & carpark charges with a veiw to a late summer evening dangle for whatever off the pleasure peir.
by half three we had sorted some bait & dragged ourselves down to west bexingdon, eager to latch into some of them red spots,- annual flatfish comp along chesil t'other day , i'd heard, went 43 weighed in from 117 entrys top spot went to 4 fish.
fished from 4.30-21.30 not a bite till 21.00 just on dark, small neat baits & larger less neat baits, worm/shellfish/squid/mackerel,
at distances from 10 ft- about 140 or so yards,
with hook sizes down to 3's we still couldn't hook up , like just about everyone else we gave up after dark.

just lately fishing feels like playing golf when you've got a nice big flag in the middle of a flat green, but some buggers filled the hole in
