Re: Slapton

Hi Guys, Shrek. Sir Talkalot and I went to Slapton on 1st Jan. We managed to slip in between what looked like 2 comps going on, and fished through to about midnight. About 12 doggies later we packed up. I think it depends on where you come to rest as to what species you drag out. Down closer to the pub seems to fish a more wide and varied specie mix. As most of you know, Slapton has been one our most favourable haunts lately, but if it going to get swamped with doggies then we shall have to research somewhere else fairly close to us.
We have been threatening to visit East Portlemouth soon, cos apparently differing species are abundant from there.
Shrek has had a mix of Ray, Pollack, Bass and even Codling to 2 or 3 pound from there. We shall let you guys know about the progress (if any).

Thanks mate. Very interested in what’s happening down past Slapton but reports are few and far between at best.

A good reliable/reputable update is always appreciated.

Kiwi.

Paul,

Quite a mixed bunch. We had dogs, Bass, Dabs, Plaice, Whiting, Pout, Poor Cod, and A Dragon Fish.

Fished Middle of the beach.

On the subject of E.Portlemouth. I have had a variety of species there, Bass, TB Ray, Plaice, Wrasse, Mackeral and even a tiny little Cod <1Lb

A mixture really. Flatfish taken at close range, 50-75 yards, others about the same up to about 150+ yards.

Might be worth another go after tonights/tomorrows predicted storms.

Paul

Fished the town end a few weeks ago. The whiting were biting within minutes of reaching the bottom. Most of the fish were between 10oz - 1Lb mark. It seems that a few hours either side of low water is most productive.

Good Luck with the comp
