| Rib tickler Rib tickler Thanks to Jacko I managed to get out for a bit of boat fishing today!! I got up way to early, I allowed for the hours change when setting my alarm, forgetting that my phone automatically adjusts, so was up at 5am new time. Hung around the house getting gently ready and set of to West Bay, arriving about 7-30am. Jacko turned up shortly after and we got his rib launched and the mechanic had a quick fiddle with the idle, by this time Scottish and Mental turned up so we had a bite of breakfast, with me making wise cracks about ground bait. We had a fast and spectacular run out to the wreck of the St Dunstan, that rib really flies and bouncing off the tops of the 3 to 4 foot swell was fun, better than being at the fun fair. We anchored up near the wreck and had a little dabble to see what was there, I was feeling a bit queasy and not quite right when all of a sudden I heaved, first time ever, have been a bit queasy before, but never ground baited before, must have been karma for being a wisecracker. Well we all caught something there, but nothing of much standing, I will let the guys tell you about their fish, I landed this pout ![]() and a couple of these whiting ![]() the tide was slack and not much was going on so after a bit of a rest for me ( I had chundered again!! ) we moved to just off the shore near Eype and did some drift fishing over the banks and then moved right into the gulleys about 200 yards off shore. The fish finder was showing stuff mid water which seemed unusual, ( but I am no expert ) but nothing wanted to bite, I tried shads, rubber eels, rag on a couple of different rigs, but with nothing wanted to play at about 2-30pm we called it a day and went and got the boat on the trailer and headed home. Not too soon either because the rain just began as we finished loading the trailer. I found the sea sickness went as soon as we were moving or drifting, and was only apparent when at anchor. So thanks to Jacko and Scottish & Mental for a good day out, despite the sickness, and I hope we can get round to doing it again soon. __________________ Life is understood looking backwards, but it must be lived forwards. |
