Abbotsbury last night

Arrived at Abbotsbury at 13.30, looked over the beach and there were anglers as far as the eye could see. Me and 2 mates decided to walk right towards the cottages. After a long hike we found a space and started to set up. Bait was rag,lug,peeler,squid and hermit. Chosen traces were 2 hook clip downs and pulley pennels. Took 2 hours to see any fish landed on the beach. A small whiting caught by someone who had only been there for ten minutes!!
The swell got worse as the evening wore on. After another couple of hours of getting pounded by the swell and tackle getting dragged into the surf and shingle it was decided that enough is enough and packed up resulting in another blank for the year!!
Back at the car park was talking to a fella who had as much luck as us and said that a bloke next to him had a 5ib 10oz cod.
Oh well theres always next time!

Roll on april for the wild brownies, roll on may/june for the boat, roll on june/september for the salmon/grilse, and roll on september/november for the nighttime fishing, god i wish i lived in norway. Fair play to anyone fishing at this yime of year, once the ice goes im going rainbow fishing, great fun. Mazza your right there is always next time

Good effort Mazza. Have uhmed and ahhed about Chesil between Xmas and New Year, but the Cod seem to be very few and far between at the moment. Funny, 'cause they were here in numbers this time last year.

Oh yeah. Was certainly hard last night. Looking forward to some boat trips in the new year. Will be nice to go out and catch some double figure cod.
