| Solent Cod 28/12/09 We went yesterday in search of more Solent cod, crew Ray, Lenny Pike ( winner of the IOW cod festival) and myself, forcast SE 3-4 increasing 5-7 possibly gale 8, plan was to fish until the weather picked up and then run for home with it blowing us in. We left at high water so we arrived just as the tide stared to run east. A quick aside tides in the Pompey area tides run east to west/west to east, east being the ebb west the flood so if you hear anyone talking about we've got the west all day its on the flood. The fishing, not a lot happened to begin with bites were few and far between, when they did start crufts came out to play  We were going through so much squid we limited oursleeves to three suqid a bait up.  Ray had the gentlest of bites, then the rod went over and the classic nodding of a cod.  His first this season, bites dried up for a bit then my rod nearly went for a swim. FISH ON.  The wind started to pick up as promised so we called it a day, codless Lenny IOW champ was given the job of filliting our fish.  But thats fishing.
