Charity match 20/12/09 weston shore

Well the day was upon us , awoke to a freezing cold but bright day perfect winter fishing weather , loaded the car dropped the kids off and arrived on the beach for 8am , slowly members turned up for the draw with a brief chat with everyone and on with the selling of tickets and the raffle was ready for 9 am rob in his tart pose .......

dave (chopperblue) nosing over his prize

Now with a great turn out of 24 anglers it was ready to start , with anglers coming from wales , devon , and martyng who drove from dorset to spend an hour with us and drop off some of his rigs for the raffle i thank you martyn , 10 am and its off , by the time i packed up the raffle all the hotspots ahd been taken so picked a pitch right in front of me car next to justin nailor , view to my right ..............

and to the left .............

Not long in and drew (bk17) was in with the first mudmucher a respectable 11 ozs ....................

then a phone call from rob confirmed dannyfisher (half human half flounder) was in with a flatty of 12 ozs .........

Well done mate , he certainly knows his flounder fishing
then Dave (pingu bagged one at 11 1/4 ounces pic to follow , well done dave ian (greenheart) mate was into a nice fish of 33cms unfortunately un weighed and released never the less a nice fish one more before the end and it was (itwasthisbig) forum member with a flounder of 10 ozs ....

well done mate well it was a tough one with ben (henry) bagging a massive goby , well weston shore flounder fishing has gone in the decline in the last few years 5 flounder between 24 anglers confirms this , however its a brilliant comfy venue to fish , i along with many others were on a total blank now heres the top 3 takers

3rd place , drew bk17 11 ozs which he picked up a baitcast reel and a spinning rod

2nd place ,dave pingu 11 1/4 ozs picked up a shakespear tidwater multi reel

1st place , young Dannyflounderfisher 12 ozs picked up £60 in cash , a anyfish anywhere box conversion kit and a shakespear multi reel

well between the cod comp and this comp we raised the tidy sum of £205.00 after payout great to see nick (sunny) and dog take the time out to come and chat to members and pay his dues , cheers nick well i cant thank you all enough for your support it was fantastic as i know a few came a long way for this but ended on a blank , for that i apologise but theres always next time and a big respect to kkk (steve) a disabled angler who travelled from wales to attend id like to take this opportunity to thank all the donaters of prizes , it wouldnt have happened without you lastly id like to wish you all a very merry christmas and a prosperous 2010 ,

good luck ,

lee.

p.s you may not recognise some members and this was a joint effort of 3forums

Re: Charity match 20/12/09 weston shore

well what a cracking weekend
( sorry lee this is a bit more than just the match but bear with it

It started well with a good run up to Steves on Sat eve ( who is a star as gave up his room for me, and his mum even made my sandwiches for the comp ...spot on thanks)

sat night was a pre match social at Matts ( fullcreel)

with his cracking chilli sausages, and my forever favourite a big roaring fire to sit round, I could have stayed for hours arround that fire with good friends and a beer

below is probably the only time steve was warm all weekend

next morning and steves woken me at 5.30 and soon after Ians here we are off on convoy on very icey road
stoping off on route so some can induldge in ....(food??) Maccie D's

and eventually the pratnav gets us too Weston via its diverse route to meet the others

where we are greeted by Lee and probably the most covered raffle table i have ever seen

where i managed 3 prizes
then onto the fishing , wow no more than 200yrds from car spot on again

twiddles struggling with the shelter again

and dave and twiddles pingus were reunited again

as for the day, well the fishing was slow to say to say the least but its a cracking venue , the weather stayed superb if not a tad chilly for those of lesser build than a penguin ,
It was great to meet new people such as Lee and KKK ( who traveled from wales )
Steve and Twiddles stuck at it but are more convinced than ever that there are No fish in the Sea !!!!
I was lucky enough though to catch and although a tiddler at 11 1/4 oz come 2nd Steve has pictures

funniest moment was twiddles casting over the pipe walkway 20 feet up and over to my right

The presentation has to be the most casual ever, but lee you are a star for putting this on, it was a great day

had a great run home 2 1/2 hours and so tried to waste some of the bait i gained fronm twiddles/steve and ian up the estuary for and hour but the pub won( where i also found had won some wine in xmas draw, and a swift pint to round off a great weekend

Thanks all for a great weekend,
heres to the next one

dave

Re: Charity match 20/12/09 weston shore

I don’t have much to add to the reports, I had a great time and it was nice to meet other members of the forum. I was one of the few that blanked but I still enjoyed myself and I was glad to support a great cause.

Pingus 2nd place Flounder

View of the venue from my swim

Finished the day off at the pub for an evening meal, which was lovely.

I would like a HUGE thank you Lee for running the event.

“THANK YOU LEE”

KKK is on a distinguished road
Re: Charity match 20/12/09 weston shore

My self and Andy Avs enjoyed the fishing (although no actual fish to report) and meeting a few new people, just I found out that not being at all well I started to feel the cold so much that Andy had to basically had to fish for me, pity the fish never came out to play.
Thank you Lee for organising the event.
My B+B was very pleasent altough we did seem to be in the middle of club land and that my room was directly opposite a nice loud pub which never seemed to close until about 3am.
Only took about 2 1/2 hours to get home once we found the out of southampton. It took us 3 hours to get there I think our sat nav sending us into southampton dock and then telling us to turn around (I am glad it said that cos not even I could have worked out to stop or get wet) or the wonderful one way system did'nt help
