Talking plans are definately there for changeing arent they, exmouth 16/12

last night after getting some ragworm bait the plan was to fish higher up the river for the flounders, hightide was at at 6pm but unfortunately we started a tad later than expected at 8pm due to kids etc...
and thus first change of plan , and so we find ourselves on exmouth seafront on a rapidly dropping tide

alls quiet and we wonder how bad the fishing is going to be on this big tide...so we opened our festive bottles of hobgoblin, then eventually i get a few rattles and i get first blood with this monster flounder

and after me getting another tiddler rich is at last into another monster( and more inportantly his first of the winter campaign)

I had now adding rockling to my tally and even managed a double shot of flounder

but the fishing rapidly started to dry up , as did the water and we realised we were fishing only into a shallow lagoon with a big sandbar behind ( baggie found this sandbar by casting onto it , ) the beach is really changed after the last few storms

so now at 11pm with an hour to low and still loads of bait (instead of saying pub or kebab ) we actually decided on change No 2 as we moved the 100-150 yrds to the right where there was at least a view of water

and first cast my rod goes and bingo a proper flounder 1lb5oz( here trying to hide after placeing on sand)

now chuffed that we had moved and found a proper fish, we both started finding schoolie bass, then things started going mental !!!, with rich desperately wanting to light a fag, but the rod tips were being hit by schoolies like crazy, it was now that baggie did what he does best and converted a schoolie into a proper bass at 2lb

this was a much needed fish for rich as has been a good while since he had a decent fish as has been looking after the crippled penguin too much

and then my rod buckles overr and i'm in with a lovely fiesty 3lber

then for both of us a sucession of schoolies

and then rich is off again with the last good fish of just over 2lb that really bent his new rods well

all went quiet about 12.30 1/2hr after low

but just to give us 4 species for the night as well i finished off with a double shot of whiteing on one rod as reeled in to pack up

So in the end a great night, and had to be a first with both rich and myself takeing a fish each from the beach ( not mackeral either)( its usually one or other of us with a taker never both) we had plenty of bites, the weather although a bit chill was ok( did start raining later but when was fishing like that it didnt matter)

cheers for driveing again rich all that way
maybe we should stay closer to home more often

dave
