| Gilkicker Having not fished for a few weeks i just had to wet a line somewhere now that it seems the weed had gone By the time i managed to get out high water had passed so needed to fish somewhere with a bit of depth to the water, so i opted for kicker. Was set up and fishing for 9pm, 3/0 penal lug/squid at distance and 2 hook flapper with lug at short range which brought a good bite straight away  A nice whiting of about 1/12 lb (shore pb) Just after i caught this, some fella was on his way back and said that is all he had had on the up and over high. With that i had a slow pull down on the distance rod............Doggy With that i was the only one left on the beach apart from the foxes that seem to be surrounding me Fishing was now slow with me catching only dogs at distance so i just used plain ole squid. Bang on midnight i had a slow pull down which stopped then pulled further down so i set the hook and could tell this was a better fish. Not much of a fight but could feel a bit of weight there, so i was thinking smallish bass or a good whiting Until i got it 20 yds from the shore and it gave the Cod Nod  6lb on the button (60cm) (shore pb) Fished on for another hour with no other real bites and packed up happy before the foxed got me 2 Pb's in one night was a nice way to spend 4 hours Ps: so im told the Whiting could actualy be a Coalfish???     |
