| sandy bay 20/11 last night rich and myself decided to grab the window in the weather and try a gentle nights fishing down sandy bay( also known as Devon Cliffs holiday park) this is pretty much off limits to locals dureing the summer as is the biggest holiday park in the county i believe, but in winter is quiet sounded quite rough when at top but went down ramp and it was lovely , the cliffs behind were deflecting the wind and there was a lovely surf running , there had to be bass here![]() being on flat sand it was nice to be able to try casting properly again, so although after bass i did wind a few up and that felt good after so long( next time i'll have a play with richies new toys )as we got there at high tide it wasnt long before the sea was running away at a massive rate of knots( very shallow beach here) and despite moveing forward we were running out of water depth completely, so ended up fishing from 8.30-midnight I managed 3 schoolie bass ( all on top hook of a size 1, 2 hook flapper, also after flounder baited with lug) other rod 3/0 whole squid not a touch, unfortunately rich who was also being more ambitious with both rods and larger baits blanked , but was so nice to do proper beach fishing again ,unfortunately ankles still giving me way more grief than should do , when I'm hopefully back to work next week( cant see 5 hours stood up in one session happeninga good night still got some lug left mmm![]() dave __________________ www.exmouthsaa.co.uk 24 beers in a case and 24 hours in a day simples You won't know unless you go :D...and if you do go!! please let us know :D as thats how the forum thrives |

| Re: sandy bay 20/11 Nice report mate. It was a good night despite the blank. Maybe I'm gonna have to try some smaller hooks next time? We can't have ya keep catching all the fish now can we? __________________ Right then, checklist: Rods. Check. Reels. Check. Speckled Hen. Check. Bait…… BAIT! Sh*t, where’s the bait? |
