Selsey Point 18/10/09

Up at 4.50 and on the road 5.45. Arrived Selsey, 7.30.

Weather clear. Bait Rag, Sandeel's. Crabs

Parked in the car part at point front (hillfield rd) and had a quick walk up and down. Tide was at low-ish point so decided to fish directly in front of where the road just turns into the carpark.
Lines in 8.00am

Had bites immediately, only small but nearly every cast.
Missed the first few. Tide started pushing up on the seawall pretty quick so we moved to the bay at the end of the car park. Weed. Bundles of it. 6lb a cast. Moved further down, still bad.

Went up from the first section even worse.
Realized the first section we tried was weed free so decided to go back there.

No weed problems at all. (//I actually wondered whether there was some scientific reason that particular one groyne section was weed free. Not even a little bit.? No idea and for the record I'm a scientist!//) So if you have weed issues, try the first spot by the road.

Back at the first spot, a good bite on the rag and a 8" little bass. Hardly a specimen. He went back to fight another day. 10.30.

Weather by this time was sunny, warm and water was Gin clear. Switched to whole sandeel for the bass, and One more bite then dead as a dodo.

No bites on any baits from there till 4. Gutted I didn't have lugworm.
But with the sun and clear water, glad not to have blanked.
Back in London by 6pm.

Shame there weren't a few more fish around, but at least you avoided the dreaded "B" word.
