| hurst, 1/10/09 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- hi guys , i fished hurst shingle bank last night , 8 hours, 8pm-4am. over the last of the flood and right back down. the last of the strong flood tide + the weed kept me fishing in close for bass and bream in the 5-30foot area at first, though i had a few bream knocks i couldn't connect untill the tide eased when i hooked up with a black bream of about 10 inches. ![]() this was about the stamp of it for the night with me captureing a further 3 of more or less this size . the night was slow to say the least & most of my time was spent clearing weed off the lines. the dreaded weed was very restrictive during the last of the flood and the first hour of the ebb, otherwise manageable till the new flood at 0400 which, as expected, was just too strong as always. this tide swing usually triggers something to come on the feed just b4 the main rip through starts & and this morning was no exeption, though unfortunately it was just a jumbo pout. i changed the habit of a lifetime and kept one of the bream for breakfast __________________ 2008, sessions,..26, blanks,..3 species..20 2009,sessions-34 blanks-10 species-24 pout,/poorcod,/5 bearded rockling,/whiteing, /lsd,/ bass,/ smalleyed ray,/starry hound, / common hound. /thornie/eel/ brill../mackerel,/goby./blonde ray./sandeel./goldsinny wrasse./pollock./dover sole./black bream./triggerfish,/bullhuss,/garfish. __________________ beer so many venues, so little time. |

| Re: hurst, 1/10/09 bloody things are everywhere through the solent again, at least they are sizeable this year. hurst is always a tough venue because of the tides , ok on the ebb as long as there is little weed(especially where i was) i always think this beach has the potential to throw up anything but its most often blanks or sml stuff. last nights tide times were too good to miss even if the tide itself was a bit big and the moon cycle was wrong.(i'd prefer ful neaps between last 1/4 & first 1/4.) __________________ beer so many venues, so little time. |
