southbourne 22/09/09

Well after promising ourselves a trip here for a while , me and rob decided to go west last night for our mid week bash wasnt looking too good after the poor results from the isac match but we went never the less , arrived and was fishing by 7 pm , lovely beach ..............

started looking promising , with bite a chuck on the flood resulting in a few schoolies up to a lb and a early doors sole ................

That was that died a death over high water and on the ebb with just a couple more schoolies to speak of , robs mate rich caught his very first bass there last night so he was chuffed decided to call it a night at 4.30 am , great venue that i would love to fish again soon , its taken me all day to rid tackle box , rod bag of sand , clean down rods and reels .

Notes to self ; dont wear trainers on a sandy beach

Re: southbourne 22/09/09

I lived in Xchurch for a while, another couple of great spots are:
Further around towards Hengistbury Head, there is a jetty of rocks to fish off, Qute a walk but worth it, good for the mackers in the summer and ok Bass 1 - 4 Ib in the winter.
My favourite spot is Mudeford quay, they come few and far between but when they come they come!
1 - 15 Ib's Bass in the winter when its rough and the tide is spring, Also caught a great 6Ib grey mullet there on a hot summers day. Speak to the fresh fish stall at the end of the quay, they are extremely helpfull and will also let you have the guts and such and a few cheap mackers if your lucky and ask at the right time!!
Good fishing!!

Have also caught loads of silver eels off of the run @ mudeford that is if you can avoid the crabs....

Well done Lee.
have found that the fishing is either hectic or dead there.
Will have to get back down there soon.
