| chesil, 10th sept, adelaide, well nearly. due to unforseen circumstances ( the wife ) i didn't get there & meet up with baggie till dusk, which def put the mokkers on my search for daylight species.weather- dry & clear skys, wind quite strong but northerly sea calm with just a gentle swell. tide- mid tide with springs over last weekend h/w for 22.45. rigs- 3 hooks( size 4) flappin'. pulleys, size 2 or 4/0. bait- squid/blk lug/sandeel. though baggie had had some success in daylight things were definately slow after dark, i think he had a couple of doggies while i couldn't buy a bite. time passed- swig beer ![]() shortly afterward Rich had had enough and left for home, as he went over the hill i had a cracking bite on my lighter rod which, after a spirited tussle, resulted in the capture of a lump of kelp & a starreysmoothound ![]() i thought that may be the start of a productive ebb but that wasn't the case it was all quiet again till i gaveup at 02.30 just as another angler set up to fish the wreck, conditions looked promising for dawn but unfortunatly i couldn't stay __________________ beer so many venues, so little time. |

| Re: chesil, 10th sept, adelaide, well nearly. Sorry about the delay, I've been away for a couple of days. It was an aboslutely glorious day last Thursday. So much so I had to stop and take some photo's on the coast road between West Bex and Abbotsbury. Breath taking Chesil was really showing off. The pictures don't really do it justice. It really was special. Anyway, got down to Ferrybridge about 15:30 and set about trying to catch myself a Trigger. Small hooks and rag tipped with squid were the order of the day, but absoluetly nothing doing. I did see one come out about 100 yards to my left (Not a word Gordon! Not a word!) and the guy next to me said he'd had one in the morning, but for me they were elusive, so I decided to try for some more point for the hunt, so clipped a float onto my line and let it drift into the surf. It did the trick on the first cast, but made a hell of a tangle when I pulled it all back in. Caught a Mackerel not long after then a few Bream, all small. Gord turned up as the light started to fade and as it got properly dark the dogs came on the feed. Managed to get a pout to make it 5 species for the session, so not bad all in all, but the Trigger hunt goes on. Might have to wait for next year now, but I'll get one. Eventually. A fantastic day to be on Chesil and great to see you again Gord! Cheers for the beer my friend! ![]() __________________ Right then, checklist: Rods. Check. Reels. Check. Speckled Hen. Check.
