got one off the list( brixham breakwater)

went out on a mission with the family tonight
in search of not only a species for the hunt but a new club record

venue was brixham breakwater
target cuckoo wrasse

didnt walk too far along as son was gipping

was a pleasent eve if not a tad strong on the westerly wind
daughter was more intersted in mobile as ever

well untill the bull seal went by below our feet then she was interseted in water


soon i was on own as family headed into town

the tiny pollock were steady on the float

best bite of night came along as mrs returned with fish and chips

then at last a rattle on the bottom rod but what ws it??????

was it the species i was after


def wrong colour for corkwring and on looking through book with that blotch on tail and front fin I can only come up with goldskinny wrasse( that are neither on species hunt or club records)

if anyone else thinks different please advise



still a new species for mme and a pleasent night out

Evening dave. Great little wrasse. Your pretty much spot on it a goldsinny or gold spot wrasse. Great catch and a great evening for fishing.

Hi Dave , i got plagued with those little Wrasse last time i fished the breakwater for mullet, they had a liking for Hovis! Goldsinny i reckon mate.
