portsea pontoons, overnight trip 16th-17th august

it was my mate birthday and he decided that we should have an overnight trip. he bought £20 worth of ragworm, 8 packs of feathers (very snaggy) and 14 2 and 3 oz wieghts.i thought i would bring down 3 rods. my beach caster out for a big bass using a fillet of mackerel on a 3/0 pennel rig, my flimsy spinning rod and my fly rod. we got down for high tide at arounf 7pm. i set up the spinning rod and set of feathers mounted with ragwormon each hook after some mini species for the hunt.
first i caught a litttle pouting, then a wrass, then a pollock, a blennie and last but not least a rock goby. caught hundreds of mini fish but they were the only species. as it started to get dark the bass and pollock were on the surface. chasing wite bait. i made my own little fly up of a bit of white carrier bag to look like the white bait. i caught loads of polock at first thenas it hit 12am the bass were coming out to play. i caught 2 on my fly rod, biggest of 3lb and smallest at 2 and a half lb. as i was enjoying the scrappy little pollock i saw a stonking bite on my mackerel fillet but i missed it. the bass dissapeered at around 1:30 am. so i went back to ragworm on the spinning rod. my phone now had run out of battery and i wish it hadn't! i caught 2 silver eels one after the other and they would of done nicely for the hunt aswell.
my mate caught one bass of 6lb on a mackerel fillet when it was still light.
lovely nights fishing
will post all the pics tommorow evening when i go to see my mother (i have to bluetooth the pictures to her to get them on the pc.)
hope ya'll enjoyed the read

regards

ollie
