| Short windy trip south Taking advantage of the gap in the rain, K & I trusted the wind speed on metcheck & left for the South Coast for a couple of days on Chesil. The targets were Bream & Triggers from the Adelaide / Landing craft, so we stopped off at Dennings to pick up some Rag. It was the best Rag I've come across, wriggly, large & not trying to eat my fingers & thumbs all the time. . Arrived in the Ferrybridge car park & jogged up the slope as was a tad breezy. The wind was howling in & I could see some large patches of weed. We upgraded the tent from a 2 to a 4 man at the weekend as 6ft 2 bloke doesn't fit in a 6ft 6 tent to sleep . Looking at the plastic sheet stuck on a wooden post being blow dead straight put me off using the tent at Ferrybridge, so we headed to the next venue along... Abbotsbury. The wind didn't seem so fierce here so we decided to give it a go. Setting up camp took ages, 1 to hold tent whilst other ties the plastic bags instead of tent pegs to the rubber rings & burys the bottom of the flysheet in shingle. Still it stayed in place even if the wind got stronger instead of lighter .Very hard to spot bites, only saw two all session the first in daylight resulted in for me, the latter in darkness resulted in nothing but a chewed lump of Mackeral for K. K did however get a small Pouting that may have been a poor cod - What is the difference please?? At 1 in the motning we called it a night & retired to the still standing tent for some well earned kip. Couldn't sleep before high tide in case the wind pushed it up higher that the previous tide & we needed to evacuate up the bank. Fantastic breakers, but struggled to cast 60yds into the wind, with 15 foot rods almost vertical, the line was barely out of the waves. After a good rest we decided to try a pier on day 2, Weymouth being the obvious option. So we went to Swanage. Beachcasters are a bit heavy for pier work & the wind was still blowing a bit, but the bites were good little rattles. Plenty of wrasse were falling to ragworm & K had a double shot of tiddlers. Mirror photography must make me twice as handsome Can I have the fishy on the right identified please. His anal fin ran most of the length of his tail. ![]() Plenty of points for the hunt if I can work out what to claim for .Next trip probably Thursday on the BC. May take the BBC weather forecast on tele to be more accurate. Probably wouldn't have bothered going if We'd know how blowy it was. ![]() __________________ Spahill <:--- --- --- --- It was this big --- --- --- ---:> |

| Re: Short windy trip south R.E weather forecasts, I have been amalgamating them, but i am keen on the met office site http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/ much better than bbc, in my case the weather reading station is at Boscombe down, someway from where I want to be. Met office seems way better. |
