| turbot hunt 2, southbourne thurs 26/7 that was the plan anyway till me and ashley took a look over the cliff, it looked a tad lumpy. wind was wsw, gusting force 3-4ish maybee, pretty much dry but the odd shower threatened. sea was a little choppy & there was a little weed about in small clumps but not a big problem. high tide was for 21.30ish & it was a nice spring with no moon should be good, but i'd like it calmer.baits - pealer, sandeel, mackerel. fished 19.30ish-0530. ash was 1st in, winning his £ on the first fish with a tub bernard on frozen mackerel. ![]() this cheered me up somewhat because the worm bait i had was well past it and i could do with a gurnard my self for the hunt and so in short order i captured one my self, albeit a smaller specimen. ![]() ash went ahead again 1/2 hour later with a bass just under msl ![]() not to be out done i drew even on the numbers game with a mackerel on the retrieve, which i renamed BAIT. ![]() then went ahead with a school bass of my own. by this time the tide had started to ebb and it went quiet for quite a while, to be honest we both nodded off , ash was getting bored . i woke feeling refreshed & heaved out some fresh baits which was rewarded with a good knock , after a brief scrap i hollered ashley awake to photo shoot my prize. ![]() not good piccys but you get the idea,- small smuttly est 2 1/2lb. 20 mins later i woke him again for a slightly better one , est 4ish lb. ![]() i was all fired up now and fished hard through to dawn and low water but that was the last of the smuts , the sun was well up by 5am and i found washed up on the low tide mark probably the smallest mackerel i've ever seen ![]() i was just about to quit when i noticed a bite , the last fish of the session 05.20 at low water was def something special for me as i'd not caught one of these before, not big but something i know pingu will apreciate- ![]() ![]() spotted ray ,just luvin southbourne __________________ beer so many venues, so little time. |
