Not a great day

I mentioned I was planning a trip down to chesil or lyme.
Once watering was done, I made my way down to Bruton, and jumped into JP's car, which was less likely to suffer embarassing mechanical problems and we made our way to Lyme to the Tackle Box, We grabbed some Rag and a few peelers, whilst I stocked up on feathers and a few weights.
We had decided upon Seatown, as it would be a combination of fishing and fossiling. To my disapointment the beds of Blue Lias were gone, well I think they had been covered by shingle, this was a shame as I had recnetl;y built a coffee table, with a recessed glass lid, so i could display my collecttion in there. No Joy, apart from some ammonites. The wind got stronger as we apporached the outlet.
So we bbq'd amongst the rocks, once fed we headed towards the inlet of the brook, and spoke to those fishing therer, thye had no luck other than rocks which cost them rigs and huge lumps of weed. After talking to them we decided to try Beer.
A lovely little cove, and out of the wind which had been pretty nasty .
I started with feathers, changing to a range of spoons and spiiners, for anything. JP set his beach kit to the left of the beach. As he was bringing in his first cast, using rag, he decidded to save his peeler til the high tide and just after, he found he had two fish. One wrasse and one suspected weaver fish.
Here's pics.
Wrasse

Suspected Weaver

We found it to be very snaggy, I only lost one spinner, much to my relief, I did set up my beach rod, and lost evrything on the first cast, so I re rigged the spinning set up with a float and fished amongst the rocks, cattching one small wrasse, which did a houdini and made it back into the water before I could get apic, so no points.
When I laid by spinning rod down on the beack, by the high tide mark, well lots of weed, the spinner hooked this, which is the lcosest I'll ever get to catching a mermaid.

I think I'll put it up for a caption contest.

Tough going, but sounds like you enjoyed the day anyway.

Second fish is a Bullhead.. Ugly little critters ain't they?
