guernsey trip

well we head out to the channle islands with hope of plenty of flatts, but the fishing was realy bad, the worst iv ever seen it there in the 5 years iv fished there and we tryed just about everythink we could. but i think we were just a couope of weeks to late(shame that 1st trip was called off
we had 1 brill and 2 turbot couple of dogs and a gurnard on day one we got there at 10-11 ish.
day two we had a the flexable coupleing fail so broken down ,after a quick temp repear we limped back to port at 5 knots and i got one delivered for the next day.
day 3 i fitted the coupling , but again once we got out there the fishing was sh*t, with only a couple of gurnard. so on the way back we stopped off at some rocky grounds and had a few pollock just to put a bend in the rods while getting bait for nextday
day 4 was better as we had 5 turbot and few gurnard, on the way back we treid for some bass but not a thing.
day 5 was rough so after 2 drifts and a quick chat to a local boat we know(who said it was realy bad at the moment) we gave up and went in to alderney to see a freind(mark @ alderney angling)and get some duty frees.mark also confermed that the fishing had tailed of in the last 2 weeks so we just got a bit of bad luck. but we know the that switch can come back on at any time and it could fish its nuts off tomorrow.
once the tide turned we head home in a force 5. we did not even bother with the cod as wind and tide were together and a 5 knot drift was pointless
this trip was just not ment to be, every think that could have gone wrong did.
the good thing was at least we had a good laugh with a good bunch and some sun shine to keep the smiles .
all booked up for next year now so fingers crossed it come off this time
i know this is not the best advert but the island's do fish well normaly so if intrested the are 4 spaces still available for next year. with 2 nites on alderney and 2 on geurnsey for a change. date is 4th of may for 5 days.
il add some piccys l8er

Re: guernsey trip

Hi all,

Our Alderney trip a few weeks ago was just the same.

Our last four trips have proved fruitless as far as fishing was concerned and from what I have been hearing from other reports it has been the same all round.

I have come to the conclusion that it is better spending your hard earned cash on more days out from your favourite ports here than wasting it on Channel Island trips, at least that's what I will be doing in future.

Regards

Drew

Bad luck John - i wish you better fortune for next year.
