Red face getting too old for all this Pt2( or where was baggie when i needed him ;-0 )

other title could be a long weekend with nothing to show for it

BTW this is another slippers , comfey chair and cup of coffee job

saturday night was a club comp at ferrybridge, rich was out with parents so i jumped in with si and andy
hopes were high of catching , if not for the comp but for the species hunt with gar and bream firm targets, and smoothies after dark

left home in blazeing sunshine so had slapped on the factor 30 and had extra in box

got there and to top of bank for 5.30, one of the tinsellers left so slipped straight down Hoorah no long hike here today( so was right infront of big concrete block)
really didnt need to worry about the suncream as we were fogbound the whole time,

although the sun was desperately trying to make an appearance

well I had an absolute mare, cracked off the first 2 casts, snagged up after and lost that rig , I fished hard but didnt see one bite all eve where as others were catching bream ( best of 1lb5oz) and darren beside had a beautifull undulate ray of 4lb 9oz, well done to andy who won with bream and pout, very little else caught even the mackeral werent interested although shoaling at our feet .

a late run home but just made kebab shop where we met a few others with the munchies so good old 2 am again

sunday morning and off to a club casting session a good few there , I did ok ,but the reels were still very iffey from the night before so best was about 135yrds, and a good old crackoff again as tried to wind the last one up

sunday afternoon and off to cinema to see the new transformers film , which was good
the lasting image from the film has to be this though,
Megan Fox spray painting "I love Pingu" on this bike

sorry that last bit was completely un-fishing related but sure no one will mind a slight indulgence there

sunday eve and after Baggies success last week we had planned another assult on the mullet, but as he was tired from standing in a field waiting for someone to hit a ball towards him (cricket) and worse he was still on call and couldnt get out.
So it was that i went out bravely on a solo mission ( this was later to be my my downfall in 2 ways)
the river otter is a beautifull river and if ever in area def worth a walk from budliegh up to otterton and the pub there , its stunning

you can just see loads of these frustrateing fish bottom left in this next pic

well after alot of trial and error and loseing 2 fish I managed to land my first ever thin lipped mullet, a couple dog walking took a photo for me, which i didnt check before releaseing fish, whan looked later = no photo( where was rich when i needed him No1) , so to prove i took one of the scales left on the grass

as it got just too dark I went to celebrate with a swift pint in local, where I met 3 others from club, 1 being andy who told us how to catch these fish, so we celebrated a bit more( now this is where i really needed Rich(No2) as he is like my conscience , as he usually has the sensible head on at times like this )

as it wasnt long before we ended up in town and eventually falling out the night club at 2am again

still a damn good weekend even if the fishing was poor

dave

PS: yes i have now nailed on the roof to my slow build doghouse now, its so so nearly completed

PPS: please mr fish come and visit us up the channel on wed night

10out of 10 for effort dave. That baggie boy seems to be no where these days does he still fish? Or is he sulking Bout being relegated and losing his manager?
