devon cliffs

went down to devon cliffs on a cheapy sun holiday their own beach was very weedy and gave it a miss went into local tackle shop on the strand for some advice on where to fish as the tides were completely wrong for the misses to get crispy while i fished.took advice and fished branscombe 2hrs either side of low 3 wrasse.
day two tried sidmouth beach to many sunbathers went back to exmouth docks fished the wall with my lad 19 he caught eels wrasse and rockling i caught wrasse both lost bigger fish to the snaggy bottom last day went wreck and reef fishing with tiger charters holiday anglers 8 in total didnt expect much on a 6hr trip especially after after seeing the the size of the landing net and was proven right.me and my lad had most of the fish pot city to about 3lb pollack to 3lb and a couple of 2lb bass.
next time check the tides venues and choose something with a good size harbour wall or pier and avoid mickkey mouse charters although the the skipper did try his best with wind against tide was a good sort and made a cracking cup of tea and gutted all the fish.

Re: devon cliffs

Glad you had a good hoilday HD. Sandy Bay beach can fish well in the right conditions, but a couple of days of the wrong winds can just push in more weed than you can shake a stick at.

Still at least you had some fish!

Re: devon cliffs

I wouldnt touch tiger charters with a 2929 ft rod. He will take you money no matter what the conditions are. im very happy that you caught some fish though !
