Warsash point/Chilling Spit Went down to warsash point on Saturday with the girlfriend, not really knowing what to expect or how to approach it, started slow but got a small black bream and around 5-6lb smut in quick succession just before high tide, hooked into a couple more fish of reasonable size, but lost them due to inexperience mostly! Caught the smut on single Hermit, on a sliding ledger rig with a 3/0 hook, the bream and the mystery "lost fish" were all on rag/squid cocktails. Definately going again possibly monday evening. Anyone else go down to this spot regularly or ever had any luck here?

Re: Warsash point/Chilling Spit Went down again today, have to say waking up at 6am on a sunday is definately something im going to have to gradually get used to! started fishing around 8am, caught a small smut (3-4lb) and loads of small bream, definately wanting to get something table worthy soon! fished through till about 12.30 when the only thing being reeled in was an unholy amount of weed! Any tips for getting some bigger bream or bass? How does this strip of beach, hill head to warsash, fish at night?

Re: Warsash point/Chilling Spit IMHO Warsash can fish absolutely brilliantly or absoutely sh1te. One general rule I've found fishing here is that an hour or two before high tide don't be surprised if it dies a complete death, with just the odd eel to show for your efforts. I know a lot of the locals swear by fishing it on the ebb for the best bass in close. Also have a bit of a forage at low tide in the tyres as they hold loads of shrimp, I've had my best sessions there fishing the shrimp on two hook flappers with size 1 hooks. Certain times of the year they are deadly for smuts here. I reckon the best time to fish Warsash is a the night that follows a stinking hot summer day (few and far between last year) with a spring tide that peaks about 11.00 pm. As soon as the tide starts flooding get fishing as often the best fishing comes suprisingly in the first hour or two in often no more than a couple of foot of water! __________________ It has always been my private conviction that any man who pits his intelligence against a fish and loses has it coming. ~John Steinbeck

Re: Warsash point/Chilling Spit Yeah was thinking of doing a night stint down at hillhead soon, how far out do you need to be to stand the best chance of catching hounds?
