| Branscombe Arrived at branscombe tonight to find the place filled with fishermen from the honiton club, We had to fish to the right of the beach so not ideal. I managed to pull out 6 dogfish and a 3lb hound on a running ledger using frozen peeler on 4/0 hook with 3ft trace. The other two guys who I went with did not have much luck either, 2 dogs to one, And the other blanked. Fished from 8 until 02:00, It went mental for me at 12:00 with the dogs and then the hound was my last catch of the night, Called it quits at 2am. Seems that the recent bad weather has sent the fish back to the depths of the ocean. The dogs were hungry for my crab tonight, More than one swallowed hooks... Just cut the line and chucked them back... Don't really care if they live or not to be honest... bad attitude or just unhappy with such poor fishing recently ?!!? p.s Does anyone know of any casting instructors in the east devon area. I really am fed up with my poor over head thump that does not get past 80 yards I think ! Cheers Leigh |

| Re: Branscombe Well done on the hound Leigh. Good luck in improving your distance....It's a man thing, we all suffer from . Got to be longer than him next door.Whenever I went in the tackle shop & said I was going to Branscombe, I was told "No further than 20 yds!" I tried but it's just an uncontrolable urge. With the long rod in your hands & a hefty weight hanging down, you just HAVE to try to sink that ship on the horizon. __________________ Spahill <:--- --- --- --- It was this big --- --- --- ---:> |

| Re: Branscombe A few fish at least Leigh.... The bigger hound will come soon I'm sure. Club casting day is out towards Crediton I think, but I'll check and let you know if you're interested. Otherwise as Dave said there's a guy called Phil Hyde who was doing free casting lessons last year at Goodrington sands I believe. I kept on meaning to pop down there, only the fishing kept getting in the way! He's on another large forum as PhilTheRod. ![]() __________________ Right then, checklist: Rods. Check. Reels. Check. | Re: Branscombe Yeah maybe, I did try to get the hooks out for about 10 mins but once I saw the belly poking out of their throats I knew that they were as good as dead. I could have chopped their heads off and got my hooks back.. cutting the line and chucking them back gave them the best chance of survival that I could offer them. :) |
