social success at jacobs( got rid of jonah??)

had a late shout that mate was bored and skint so fishing was option, so dived out tonight with mate carl ( seems to be my jonah at moment as hes never seen a ray/smut/bass when he fishes with me)and he usually makkie bashes with and looses my gear

undecided we headed east and stopped at jacobs with 1 hour to high

baits were frozen crab and sandeel and some very poor ragworm

sent out a sandeel as far as could hopeing for the elusive ray, and as over high hey lets try for a hound so a crab gets blasted out as well

3rd rod ( carls really) 3 hook flapper with bling and size 1/0 all wormed up and 20ft-30ft out

shortly carls back as another set of my tinsel type gear has cracked of into the distance
so its all rods edgererd now

missed a doggie on the sandeel
then 1 hour after high notice right hand rod is now way way left
strike and oh yes fish on
it stayed deep and i knew wasnt a dog, and soon this beast was mine


and although no size at 2 1/2 lb it was job done and also
1: first smoothy from jacobs
2:first smoothie on frozen bait
3: carl believes me about smoothounds now
4: possible jinx broken

then fished on untill 10 for a few missed schoolie bites, also possibly a big ray( or big weed as line parted in dead weight) and to finish a scabby eel that wrecked a brand new rig

and to top it off managed a swift 1/2 on way home

roll on the comp at seaton tommorrow night as i have a dozen fresh for then

seems to be steadily picking up paul, getting them most times we head out now, still not big but have heard of a few bigger

wouldnt normally fish a high tide here but wasnt waiting till 2am and low
and was more social
