great weekend and smuttyness

this is a bit of a mixed report

had a fantastic few family days camping on bodmin,
for a laugh I was lent a travel fly rod by rob in the shop as i knew there was a river next to the site

now ian knows how good i am with the fly

, but undeterred i took it, and after seeing some brown trout in this massive river i had a go

3 tangles and 3 trees later i gave up, was definately fun though, and actually i got the line to go forward even if only into the trees( was a hint restricted

)

a great weekend sitting round fires with the family and a few beers

get back yesterday and as soon as rich is finished cricket we were off to seaton, got there bang on high tide 8pm
bait was some week old crabs and a few tired sandeel

the place was heaving with tinsellers, but we found a spot
nothing happened till just before dark, tried float, pop up and even tinselling(which i hate), baggie 1st cast with spinner=makkie

met a guy called leigh from local forum who said had had a few pups night before so felt happier

darkness fell and mate at rivermouth txt to say had a pup about 3lb so hopes were raised, but it was soooo slow, rich managed a dog,and was missing a few good hound bites, then just as we were thinking of packing up as rich had work today , his crab rod went over and this time he was in, not massive at about 2 1/2 lb but first hound of the year

so of course we fished on
and at just after midnight we both had good bites ( my first rod move all night) and after a good spirited fight managed my first hound of the year , rich landed his as well so managed a double pick up photo with rich's common going 2lb11 and my starry 3lb12

and the full baggie grin is back

fished on a tad more with rich missing another good take, ( i think my crab was too old )
left far too late after that ( seems like will be a theme now as hounds are back)

but a damn good weekend and 3 points to the speckled ones

Well done guys...good to see tha famous Baggie smile again...let's hope the smutt will play ball too on our meet.....keep the fluff chcucking up Dave, very rewarding and great fun once you hook in to one
