| Deal Pier this evening - 11/11/04 Morning all, I don't suppose anyone's able to come with me, but if you do fancy a trip to sunny Deal, then I'll be on the front left hand corner (1919 side) from about 2pm today - nice spring low to fish!! Report to follow, of course! Cheers, JB. |

| Re: Deal Pier this evening - 11/11/04 Well, It all looked promising - good colour in the water, nice spring low water, plenty of room on my favourite corner etc ... even had a nice 3 score of rolled blacks and box of squid. There was even the report of "several" Codling during the day, up to 4.5 lbs - yum, yum. However, it was one of those nights where nothing really goes quite right .. lost one set of gear first cast - not amused! Then I got a birdie (grrr - first one in years!!) - Dropped out about 50 yards and so lost that gear too in the deal pier tackle graveyard! One of my Mag Elites was playing up too (serves me right for not cleaning it more often - see other thread), and so I put away one of my rods in a huff!Anyway ... final tally, 1 dab, 6 Pouting, 2 doggies and about 10 Whiting (long, skinny ones). Bloke next to me had a nice Codling about 2lbs on Crab, and there was a similar size one the other end, but it just didn't work out as promising as it looked! Ain't that always the way .... The hunt for Codling continues .... Cheers, JB. |
