Ayrmer Cove

I'm off to my retreat in South Devon for a week tomorrow and have been given an unlimited pass (until I try to use it!) so thought I'd try the short trek over the hill from the caravan site to Ayrmer Cove as I never have any luck on Challaborough beach. Has anyone on here ever fished it? It looks like a perfect bass mark to me with loads of rock gullies either side (some of the rocks between Challaborough and Ayrmer look fantastic but always worried I'll get cut off my the tide). I hopefully attach an image of the place for comment and if anyone can give me some suggestions for tactics, baits and rigs I'd be grateful. Want to travel quite light as it's a bit of a walk!

Re: Ayrmer Cove

Supposedly catch ray at Challaborough. Only fish I've seen caught there was a small plaice that was deep hooked as the bite didn't register (oh, and I managed to catch a tiny baby plaice on a kids shovel from a pool on the beach lol). I've seen some big bass in there while swimming but never seen one caught. The spot I was told to try for ray is quite difficult to reach, always looks easy from the beach but from the cliff top can't find a way down. The rocks in front of the headland do scream bass though. Going to get some peeler but will have to be frozen as mother in law will go mad if I keep live crabs in the fridge. Might give the spinners a go on the deeper gullies if I can. The Avon estuary in the other direction is also supposed to be a top bass mark and the run of mullet up it as the tide comes in is an amazing sight! If you fancy a change of scenery one evening next week give me a shout - can't guarantee catching as I don't know the place properly myself but might make a nice change?

Thumbs up Re: Ayrmer Cove

Sounds a prime spot for a spot of Bass plugging / spinning. Good luck mate.
