When do the mackerel come in usually? East Devon Just wondering as I think it's a bit early yet, yes? I enjoy gunning for mackerel and enjoy the exercise of lobbing out lures as far as I can cast. Lobbing in the odd wishful rapala is also not beyond me, but not sure about using weights to add distance when using those. Live in Exmouth now so Orcombe point is within walking distance of home but happy to drive to other spots. Walking along Budleigh Salterton beach today and I got a feeling there was deep water off there? __________________ Jason - Got the flavour for fishing back!

Re: When do the mackerel come in usually? East Devon I tried Exmouth Docks today, was fishing with ragworm but tried the ole mackeral trace for about 45 minutes, nothing, few other people down there still got nothing. I don't think any have showed off Exmouth but definatly a couple off budleigh. __________________ - Steve

Re: When do the mackerel come in usually? East Devon The original posts in this thread are a year old... But the info is still mostly valid. Apparently the odd mackerel has started to show in some spots in East Devon. Not sure about Chesil.

Re: When do the mackerel come in usually? East Devon I hear (in 2010) that there's a fair amount of mackerel a couple of miles off Budleigh, so hopefully the recent warmer weather is bringing them in a bit. Might give it a shot next weekend - can't do bank hol weekend as have something car focussed on. __________________ Jason - Got the flavour for fishing back!

Was about a mile off Exmouth and Dawlish yesterday on the kayak an no mackerel about. Asked a few passing boats and they had not had a sniff either. Tried for mackerel again yesterday evening at Exmouth dock just on the turn of the tide and drew a blank as did the other few guys there. Weather turned really cold and wet so didn't bother hanging around or changing bait. ![]() ![]()

Re: When do the mackerel come in usually? East Devon Another year has passed since the original post but I'm off to Budleigh today. Looking at google maps i'll probably end up somewhere on the headland between budleigh and sandy bay. I'll update you! __________________ Equipment required: 1x small rod 1x small reel 1x small box tackle 1x pair shorts
