 Wild optimism - Budleigh 13/04 Well, the alarm went off at 4am  this morning and I was up at the crack of half past. A quick coffee and I was off. 10 mins later I was back and off again, only this time I had bait.  It was just before 5am when I got to the beach. The plan was to do a little touch ledgering before first light, then try the plugs whilst the sun crept over the horizon. To be honest, I really wasn't expecting much, but I bought some braid over the winter and I couldn't wait any longer to try it out. I've not fished with braid before, but I can't see me using anything else now. Wow. Talk about opening your eyes to a different way to fish! Every little tap and action from the lure. Awesome stuff! Can't wait to get a fish on it now!  Anyway, the fishing was rubbish. Freezing cold and a fair bit of weed, but the sun rise more than made up for that and I had all sorts of fun with the braid. Hopefully there are some fun sessions ahead..... Lessons learnt. *********** 1. No matter how well you prepare the night before, you'll always forget something. 2. Standing in the water for the first time in a season IS COLD! 3. Braid is very cool stuff, but take a stick with you to pull for a break. __________________ Right then, checklist: Rods. Check. Reels.  God knows why?? Anyway, Ping won't be half as much fun on our spinning trips this year. He's only gone and bought some new waders that are not only water-proof, but they fit as well.
