hard work at 2 venues in lyme bay but got result

well due to family stuff and with me being away next week, It was friday for fishing this week on a massive tide 3.8m at 8.30pm

and we had a bit of a plan being cannon wall at lyyme regis for a plaice then off to charmouth on drop for a ray

venue 1 lyme regis

managed a great getaway for us and so got to lyme for 7 and we knew we had to be fast to try for a plaice before the light went, but we hadnt reconed on not being able to get on cannon wall due to tide ( didnt realise flodded behind

) so went off to the entrance pier and were soon fishing

it was a glorious eve and very social with others there but apart from a few pout and pollock ( and something far better that i lost , so therefore a doggie

) very quiet , buit learnt a few things

venue 2 Charmouth

so we packed up at 9.15 and were at charmouth and off over the landslip A S A P , re set up by 9.40

but were still nearly too early for this tide ( very dangerous/impossible over there on a full spring) , wind had picked up as was actually quite chilly now

rich was first in with a good dog, then all quiet with lots of movement from the fairly good surf then about 10ish my right hand rod went and Fish on

though was no more than a doggie untill hit shallower water then wow i knew this was a ray as it did the " lets stick to the sand trick"

and after a bit this cracking 6lb1oz male Smalleyed was on the shore

I was well chuffed as best ray in well over 18 months ( best last year was 4lb)
although it did manage to spike me which never stopped bleeding all eve

so of cause we stayed untill midnight when the water had raced away and all we had seen were a few greedy pout

we went home happy though as we had at least got 1 venue right, but we're still waiting for a session where we both hit the target fish , as always seems one or other
