ladram 1/4/9

fished the wed night comp at ladram last night

amazeing got away really early and were down there and set up in the light and 1 hour before comp ( rich had a plan where he wanted to fish)



asumeing our usual positions with me to the left of rich it meant i was into the clean ground between the stack and cliff



as you can see the sea was lumpy and a huge swell , god its been flat calm for weeks now, so i had 1 rod on a long pop up hopeing for a makkie and other sandeel hopeing for a ray( expecting dogs)

rich was playing it dangerous and casting as close to the stack as he dare hopeing for dogs as well

well we both had nowt before the comp, and after the other 5 turned up ( really poor turnout this month, considering conditions)

so it was rods in then back out for comp

nothing for the first 3/4 hour untill just dark then the pop up rod went and a doggie( first ever on a pop up thought they were bottom scavengers) so at least i was weighing in

I then managed 4 more dogs with the best 2 being counted for weigh in at 1lb9 and 1lb10, and then managed to scratch out a 4oz pout to add to total,

rich eventually had a brace of dogs but couldnt find a second species, others on the beach had had a few dogs, rockling and a flounder

but come the weigh in and my tally was the best so came away the full £7 richer ( bait was £8.50 )


anyway a good social night ( even taught rich how to do a crack off) and even made a kebab on way home

roll on the weekend as its a big open weekender comp( anyfish anywhere , best 2 specimins) ,but mmmm where to go ( i think I now have a plan )

Nice to see the fish are starting to come out now...even though they only doggies, still better then a blank. Well done my Dear £7 makes 2.5 pints

match fishing is a bit like that , i wonder just how many of the top match anglers actually break even balenceing prizes again costs over the year

close to zero i'd recon,
but iwouldn't know.

Wanted: Fishing buddy. Must have strong dislike of country dancing.

A 1-2 for the fourm boys last night, but I couldn't quite manage to tease out that second species to beat Ping into second. Still I *think* that put us both at the head of the leader board after 4 months Dave. Long way to go yet though mate.

Oh and that crack off snapped the shock leader. Okay, so it was tappered leader, but still never done that before! Bloody thing must have gone miles!
