Solent fishing

Hey everyone, Just register today I never knew this site existed. Could anyone help. I am planning on going out tomorrow and I have heard the fishing is poo at the moment. Has anyone had any luck around the solent area (beach fishing).

Any pointers would be great!

hello mate welcome to the forum,i think fishing is poo all round the coast at the moment,
wont be long , things will pick up soon

Boats are slow and Hayling and Eastney are 'double poo'!

I understand some Thornbacks are being caught at hillhead,and Plaice at Calshot and Hayling, but Gremlin would know more than me.

Of course I would, but then I'm much older!

Yep, Thornbacks at Hill Head; but you need to be familiar with tides and almost certainly better after dark from 'The Spit'.

Don't be afraid to imitate the Thames boys who fish herring (or mackerel) cut as chunks across the backbone with loadsa 'guts' in.

Plaice are nowhere in numbers.

I feel a spurt coming on as water temps slowly climb.

Agreed , most of the doubles from hillhead have been taken on mackeral
