chesil, is it worth it?

hi all.

me and my mate are thinking of fishing chesil saturday night and i was wondering if it was worth it. he was talking to a friend of his who said something to do with the moon will make it a small tide.

so i guess my question is, does a small tide mean less fish?

will be interested to hear any responses.
many thanks,

steve

Hi Steve
I think you will get plenty of doggies on fish baits, big or small tide.
Should be a nice night for it anyway.

Re: chesil, is it worth it?

been quiet along there but with these small tides it means less water movement , the plaice must arrive soon with these conditions if can fish daytime , guessing usual dogs and pout nightime ,

Been Plaice around for a month or so, when the waters clear, long way out though, 120yds plus, from what I've seen.

Hey Dogmax,
where's the best for a plaice or two, is it Cesil Cove, Abbotsbury, West Bexington or West Bay (I'm to old to manage the dragons teeth), I am going to give it a go later this week if weather and tides (and the wife) permits.

Re: chesil, is it worth it?

Forget Chesil Cove for Plaice.
Chesil beach goes from fist sized pebbles at Portland (Chesil Cove) to a fine gravel at West Bay. So unless you have the use of a boat to get across to Chesil at Langton Herring, your best bet is from Abbotsbury to West Bay.

Thanks Portland Pirate,
I am now looking at Saturday, as I am doing a couple of night sessions closer to home this week. On Saturday theres a westerly forecast with a few light showers and winds 18km/h what my chances in these conditions or should I forget it and go to studland.
