| Afternoon all, This is my first posting on here so be gentle with me. On top of that I'm a born again salt rod. The last time I was fishing in this country I was still at school. Im not telling you how long ago that was but lets just say were counting in decades! Now for some reason that I cant put my finger on, i've recently had the uncontrollable urge to start fishing again to the point that having trawled forums and websites, I have bought myself some gear, the better half is away and I managed to race down to Hayling on both Friday and Sunday of last week What can I say! Both days were amazing, sun sea and rods. Unfortunately no fish, but hey, I was there for 2 days straight and all I heard of being caught off of Eastoke was a small flounder. As a newb to Hayling what and when can I expect to be throwing itself onto my hooks. I cant wait to get back again (wife depending) All the best guys and thanks for all of your forum comments that helped me to start fishing again. Karl. |

Welcome to the Forum Karl. You've done the right thing by comming to the frendliest fishing forum on the web. Fishing on the south coast is a bit slow at the moment, but should start to improve towards the end of the month as the summer species arrive. Plenty of people on the forum from who fish down that way, so keep an eye on the south coast sea angling reports on the forum for up todate info on whats being caught where. Let us know how you get on. Good luck. __________________ Don't Judge My Path If You Haven't Walked My Journey... |

| Re: Decades & Counting! Fishing in The Solent area is very seasonal. It's plaice at the mo' .... there's some info here if you care to read it. I'm afraid the article is about 6 years old, but PM me for more recent stuff. http://www.total-fishing.co.uk/Fishe...hayling_island I did this based on Hayling - ![]() I hope it's helpful. I started my campaign today with a 4-6-0 from Southsea Blocks and I think we'll see some plaice on the beaches this week (Eastney and Hayling - the weather has to be spot on too). |

| Re: Decades & Counting! Thanks Guys, Much appreciated. Gremlin, your post was spot on! I've been looking for a guide to whats likely to be available and when, so thanks very much. I'm told that 1, I was probably in the wrong place at Eastoke as I was fishing from around groyn 12/13 and not the famous 23 - 30 region and 2, I'm told that to get plaice at this time of year I should be looking at casting out around 80yrds minimum My casting may need a little work before I'm out that far. Thanks again for the warm welcome. Karl. |
