| well as it seems that fishing has been a tad slow ![]() ( yeah sad isnt itbut where to go, thus it ended up being rich's choice in fishing a completely new venue for us , the cobb wall at lyme regis, fishing opposite the north wall ( as people already on there ) casting over the small beach entrance and into the small beach itself this is a easy venue but we were amazed at how shallow it actually is, although rich could get out into some slightly deeper water as was closer to the end, rigs were scratching size 1 , 2 hook flappers or clipped down with worm the main bait it wasnt long before bingo rich has secured us a mightly 1.5 points and a pout at last ![]() then very soon after he gets a not too bad flounder( did hope a plaice but sure its not) ![]() this man was on fire ![]() I did mange a few pout then we had a 1/2 each 5 beard rockling ( mucking about with a baited spinning rod between us so 1/2 each ), then rich has a good sized rockling ( he has pics so will add) and at the death I had a short spined bullhead for more points![]() a good session in the end with 5 different species( although we didnt get the eel )a chilled beer on the cob ( as was actually quite chilly) and a kebab and entertainment from the honiton chavs on way home![]() ![]() dave PS last night went on an early ray hunt with our clubs token welsh man and although no ray( we were very opptomistic really) we had pout and dogs all on 4/0 and sandeel. So the fishing looks like may be picking up at last ( well it could hardly have got worse) __________________ www.exmouthsaa.co.uk 24 beers in a case and 24 hours in a day simples You won't know unless you go :D...and if you do go!! please let us know :D as thats how the forum thrives Last edited by pingu; 03-02-2009 at 04:04 PM. |

| Re: scratching arround for points gives some hope well done on a good few species. I would say that it was almost certainly a Flounder. The easiest way to find out is by running your hand from tail to head on the lateral line, which is normaly more pronounced on Flounder. If the lateral line feels smooth it is a Plaice if its rough it is a flounder. Also plaice are rarely caught in darkness. __________________ Check my blog for a daily fishing forecast from Weymouth, Portland, Chesil Beach & Kimmeridge Bay. www.fishingtails.co.uk |
