| last night we had to get out and fish after being blown off the beaches saturday night but where the hell to go ![]() mate advised a place called anstey cove as would be tucked away from any southerly winds, but be warned it can be a tackle graveyard over low well we were going to be able to fish from 1 hour after low as far up as we could so we set of and found place( wasnt too sure on leaving car in dark carpark at night ) but an easy walk down saw us on the beach about 8'15ishand yes the ground looks a hint snaggy ![]() ![]() but amazeingly after yesterdays swells the sea was like a millpond ![]() as we knew was rough ground we decided to target huss or eels ( dont know if they are there but looked good for them ) we were both trying something new tonight, daves home made "I dont care if I lose them!!" type weights being 3 spark plugs some gaffer tape and wire 3 seemed to give best weight for casting![]() only thing we could get were small greedy sod whiteing ( thats a 4/0 rig and main body of mackeral )![]() it was a lovely eve to fish and we were both well pleased with how these weights and rigs worked in the rough as we were getting everything back ( apart from 1 which I deliberately sent out as far as possible with a normal rig and weight to see if could reach clean ground( i didnt![]() packed up 11.30 ish as rain came in heavy and although had caught very few fish both happy had learnt loads about 1: a new mark(always fun) 2: handling rough ground better 3: weights worked a treat 4: that easy walk down is a short sharp lung burster on way back up ![]() roll on next saturday aswe are going to find a big fish somehere ![]() dave __________________ www.exmouthsaa.co.uk 24 beers in a case and 24 hours in a day simples You won't know unless you go :D...and if you do go!! please let us know :D as thats how the forum thrives Last edited by pingu; 01-19-2009 at 01:53 PM. |

| Re: ping and baggie practice tackeling a bit of rough Well done on getting out & about. I love new venues - especialy when the only confidence you have is in not catching It's great being a pessimist & proving yourself wrong . __________________ Spahill <:--- --- --- --- It was this big --- --- --- ---:> |
