tough end to a Cr*p day but got result

Last night as shouted was the first of the monthly league comps

Now yesterday at work had been "one of those days" where if there was even a 80/20% chance chance of things going in my favour they still didnt, so come 6 pm and it was wet ,cold and windy and I cant say I was looking forward to this at all ( not like me at all)
and come 7pm I find I'm stood at the top of steamer steps at budliegh , nearly being blown over , looking down at a pretty savage sea and even more so thinking what the hell am i doing.anyways there were 10 other nutters from the club stupid enough to try their luck so down we went

now something i have noticed before but despite the wind being straight in our face at the top and savage, when down at beach level (30/40 feet down no more)it was no where near as bad, still steady mind you but only i guess 1/3 as strong as the top, also the sea didnt seem half as bad,
so out went a whole squid on 3/0 pennel on 1 rod hunting dogs, and worms on 2 hook clipped down size 1 scratching b**tard style rig for whiteing/anything

it was obvious there was going to be zero bite detection , this was proved whan an undersized whiteing came on the whole squid

baggie was soon with us , set up and fishing and soon had an insize 7 oz whiteing
it was tough though, but eventually @ 9.40 the tide turned and the waves dropped, and I for some reason switched to sandeel instead of squid and bingo got myself a 7oz whiteing as well, then 20 mins later on the same bait another at 8 oz( what a clonker that was) then baggie eventually had another 7ozer to make his pair

come the weigh in we find a few had blanked
rich managed to tie second with taff and somehow I came joint first with adrian, yes it was that tight with 15oz of whiteing for 3 and a half hours fishing being first place and rich and taffs 14oz second

so really a good result and I find myself on top of both competition league tables after 1 match in each league

I bet that all changes after saturday ( a chesil rover that will be double tough if this wind dont ease soon) but will try my hardest

Well done Pingu.

I hate to say it but you will be scratching again on Chesil at the weekend. A few pout and some slugs is about the best you can hope for, unless of course the dogs show.

looking at weather not sure chesil will be fishable at all but will have bait and head somewhere

Well done on catching something dave. I was down sidmouth today and the sea was brown and very rough.
